Frozen
Mar/100
I walk by this river/stream on my way to work. We had a lot of snow here in the UK towards the end of 2009 and through the beginning 2010. This river was frozen solid for weeks on end.
It’s been so cold some mornings I’ve been de-icing my car with a kettle of warm water (which would then ice up as it pooled on the road under the car) the doors of the car have been frozen shut and some mornings when I turned the key in the ignition the car would do nothing for a few seconds before the starter motor actually kicks in – it was so cold the ignition delayed. One morning I started the car and had left the fan setting on high the last time I’d driven, instead of the soothing sound of the fans starting up what I got was the crunching sound of ice shattering and being dispensed out of my air vents somewhere within the car. Ice shouldn’t creep that far up into the innards of a car!
Also around the time this photo was taken England had probably ground to a halt due to the cold and snow – whereas countries like Norway and Canada manage to carry on and not implode under such weather.
